And take the helmet of salvation,
Today's college campuses are known for their diversities in beliefs; however, they all hunger for the truth. As they do, many are often pushed to construct their very own truth which molds to fit their own conveniences. Groups of students will hold protests, walks, or demonstrations proclaiming ways of life that are unbiblical.

In speaking with a former human resources employee of a well-known university, she told me something interesting of the hiring process: professors are hired based on the added credential that they are NOT of the Christian faith. Therefore, your professors' guidance will most likely not be based on Biblical principles.
Furthermore, college friends experiment with alcohol, drugs, and reckless behavior. False prophets stand ready to give you the answers you want, but not the truth.
So, you can see how guarding your mind -- your thoughts, your knowledge, memorized Scripture or passages you remember -- is like putting on a helmet of salvation. This helmet protects your head -- your mind -- and helps you continue to walk in God's will. It's a really important part of the armor; keep your head safe so you can withstand battles.
Salvation gives eternal life and a sealed relationship with God. It's being set free from the prison of sin. Sin cannot take us captive anymore because we have forgiveness through redemption -- our sins have been paid for in full by Jesus' death on the cross. With salvation, you are not apart from Jesus. We have the resurrection power living within us.

Know this truth to your core; cover your mind with it. We must know how to use all parts of the armor. We know that our salvation is essential for our faith to be strong. As believers, God instructs us to obtain knowledge. Proverb 12:1 states, "Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, / But he who hates correction is stupid."
Pretty clear on how God feels about those who choose to go forward with a lack of knowledge. The Book of Proverbs contains several verses pertaining to the importance of knowledge. Memorize Scripture to help you stand firm, particularly during times when your faith in Christ is frowned upon and questioned. But "always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15).
Thank God for the knowledge He has given you. Cultivate it, and share the truth with others, knowing you are protected with the armor of God.
